My 1 year old was a stray, so she has good memories of catching mice. The colours and shapes work very well to give her the feeling of playing with her prey! I didn't think the balls would work, but she loves that they go in random directions and that she can grip them (and the mice) with her claws. My cat is very picky about toys, and is generally disinterested or frightened by many of the most popular cat toys on the market.
I've been looking to replace her existing felt balls (they are nigh-shredded from use), but the brand I was buying previously were made of some kind of unknown polyester, with feathers attached (which my cat would completely tear out and start chewing through within 24 hours) and I was a little worried about her eating random plastic.
I was so thrilled to see a local business selling 100% wool balls, and actually a fair amount cheaper per unit than the ones I was buying before. I decided to get some little mice for my cat as well, because she's shown interest in mouse toys before.
Shipping was quick and straightforward, and the toys arrived securely nestled in a cardboard box padded with paper.
For some reason, my cat was deathly afraid of the mouse when I first showed it to her (meowing in dismay, hiding under furniture, avoiding being in the same room) which has been the case for some toys before. I left the toy in a non-threatening but unavoidable location overnight hoping she would eventually make peace with it - an optimistic vision that has never worked a single time in the past for any other toys. She must have had some kind of journey of the soul while I was asleep, because in the morning she was running around the lounge chasing and kicking the toy with glee. She's been fully stalking and pouncing on these toys like they're real mice, with a level of enthusiasm I've never seen from her, even for catnip toys.
She also loves chasing the balls up and down our front hallway (sometime I find them nestled between my shoes), and I made sure to get plenty of them so that I don't have to go fishing under the furniture too often.
The quality is great. There's a good weight to the mice and the balls, so I'm pretty confident that even with the heavy use (and abuse) they're experiencing, they won't get too misshapen over time. I might even need to stock up on mice so I have plenty of backups when my cat inevitably sends these to the mysterious pocket dimension where missing toys go.
Impressed with the quality. Bought these as a present for a friend with three cats and I’ve been told they’re a hit in their household. Highly recommend!!!
